2000年前，我们的祖先已经是这个世界上最重要的农业文明之一。但那时候，在冶金、数学、天文等学科，我们被遥远的波斯帝国以及后来的罗马帝国落下了数百年的差距。
而1000年前，我们的祖先在数学、天文、医学等方面的成就确遥遥领先欧洲与阿拉伯地区几百年。
直至500多年前，我们的祖先还在冶炼、经济、数学、航海、陶瓷、丝织等诸多方面引领着这个世界。
经过漫长的时间，在我们连1000年前自己发明的火柴都要进口的时候，我们却依然以自己的地大物博、四大发明为骄傲。而此时，我们已经被西方抛在了后面。
互联网行业让我们第一次离世界如此之近，这个行业让普通人第一次凭借自己的努力赢得了尊重！
中国人的智慧是无穷的。可是，就算在中国的互联网行业，我们今天能够看到的“成功”依然是复制。一个国家、一个民族、一个行业创新能力如何才能激发、如何才能保障、如何才能被尊敬？
译言的存在，是因为有太多的人像我们一样，想要开阔视野，想要了解差距，想要获得前沿新知。只要这样的努力依然存在，译言就会存在。译言人代表的不是某个网站的用户群体，而是中国人不断求索的历程和精神。
译言重新开站，我们只能暂时使用.org域名，我们争取尽快恢复.com。
冬天已经过半，春天不会遥远。我坚信。

在来自四方的鼓励与支持中，我们这支年轻的团队在最艰苦的一个月中保持乐观的精神并重建译言全站，完成了自己的承诺。译言团队还会不断提升自己。将来没有什么事情是我们不能做到的。

Far back to 2000 years ago, the ancestors of Chinese formed one of the greatest civilizations. At the time we were still hundreds of years behind Persian Empire and Roman Empire in such fields as medicine, astronomy and mathematics.
Yet 1000 years ago, our ancestors were hundreds of years ahead of the European and the Arabics in fields of mathematics, astronomy and medicine.
Up till 500 years ago, our ancestors still led advancements in fields of metallurgy, economics, mathematics, nautical navigation, ceramics and silk.
Then, after a long, long time, we were in the situation that we had to import matchsticks, an invention by Chinese ancestors a thousand years ago. Yet we were still dreaming the dream of the four great inventions, and of so called vast territory and abundant resources.
Now here comes the Internet, a brand new industry that brings us unprecedentedly close to the rest of the world, an industry that provides ordinary people a chance to be respected.
Chinese possess infinite intelligence, they say. In the current IT industry in China, however, all "success" we can find is but copycat. How can a country, a nation, or an industry be inspired to create, be protected to create, and be respected to create?
For such does Yeeyan exist, for those who want to extend their vision, to fill in the distance and to acquire the cutting edge knowledge. Yeeyan exists so long as such endeavor lasts. The name "Yeeyaner" does not only refer to the user community of a website, but also stands for Chinese people’s spirit and journey of seeking knowledge.
Today we are bringing Yeeyan back, with an “.org” domain for now. We are trying to get back “.com”.
Winter is half way through, and can spring be far ahead?
Sincere thanks to all friends supporting Yeeyan.
Accompanied by encouragement and support from far and wide, Yeeyan team fought through the toughest month of Dec. 09 and kept our promise of re-building the site. We will walk on and go even farther in future. Nothing can stop us.
